Who is Eligible for Grand Champion competition?
The following categories of dogs are entered in this competition:
1. Dogs that are Champions of Record competing in Best of Breed or Best of Variety class.
There are no additional entry fees or cost to exhibitors for participation in this competition at AKC events.
2. Dogs transferred to Best of Breed/Variety which according to their owners’ records have completed the requirements for a
championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. (The showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited 

to a period of 90 days from the date of show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners’
records.)
3. Champions that win Non-Regular Classes and become eligible for Best of Breed competition. (Altered or spayed CH veteran class
winners at independent specialties are eligible.)
4. Winners Dog and Winners Bitch are not eligible for Grand Champion competition. And their winning BOB/BOV or BOS will still allow the awarding of Select Dog/Bitch to eligible dogs in the ring.
At the judge's discretion, Grand Championship points may be awarded to:
1. Best of Breed or Variety
2. Best of Opposite
3. Select Dog
4. Select Bitch

Veterans (7 years and older)
Wild Card Novice. The Wild Card Novice class is for any dog that is capable of performing the Novice exercises and that is eligible under the Obedience Regulations to compete in AKC events. No title is required to enter, and handlers may enter more than one dog. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person, and may be entered in another class or classes. The Novice exercises will be performed and judged as in the regular Novice class, except that verbal praise during the exercises is to be encouraged and not penalized. (Good, yes, nice, super, great and atta boy are some examples of praise that would be allowed.) Handlers may give additional commands, but they will be penalized accordingly. Each handler may choose to select one exercise as a wild card. The exhibitor will have the option of performing the selected wild card exercise, but will receive the full point value regardless of how the dog performs. When checking in, the handler must inform the steward or judge which exercise will be used as the wild card. The exercises will be performed in the same order as the regular Novice class. The point values for the exercises, scoring and maximum total points are the same as the regular Novice class.

Open
Novice Class—for boys & girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show who are at the time entries close have not won three first place awards with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

Notice
Juniors who substitute for the original dog they have entered in the Junior Showmanship classes with dogs that are not entered in one of the offered classes at this show must remit the Junior Showmanship only entry fee with their substitution.
SHOW HOURS
7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. -- CDT TIME
Dogs are not required to be at the show until scheduled time of judging. All dogs not needed for further judging will be excused.
ENTRY FEES
Fees include the 50¢ AKC Recording Fee and the $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee on the first entry of a dog and a $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single entry classes. (There is no recording fee or event service fee for sweepstakes, futurities, brace/team, multi-dog classes, or special attractions.)
ENTRIES CLOSE at the residence of Sharon Ehr, WEDNESDAY 12:00 P.M. May 27, 2009, after which time entries will not be accepted, canceled. altered or substituted, except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Dog Show Rules.

A post show dinner will be held at the president’s home at the Hays home, 2626 Melrose Ave, Melrose Park, IL 60164. Dinner location within 15 minutes of show site. Directions will be passed out at the show. There is no cost, please bring your own chairs and indicate how many will be attending on your entry form.
